Tafseer Classes
Understand the Quran beyond recitation — live, one-on-one Tafseer classes with Ijazah-certified scholars, taught entirely in English.
Tafseer is the science of understanding what Allah says in the Quran — not just the words, but the meaning, the context of revelation, the scholarly interpretation, and how each ayah applies to a Muslim’s daily life. It is the difference between reciting the Quran and truly understanding it.
Quran Mentors offers live, one-on-one online Tafseer classes taught by Ijazah-certified scholars — helping Muslim students in the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and UAE understand the Quran in depth, verse by verse, in English. Whether you are a complete beginner who wants to understand the Surahs you recite in Salah, or an advanced student seeking deeper scholarly commentary — our teachers build a program around your level and goals.

Who Should Take This Course?
Tafseer is for any Muslim who wants to move beyond recitation and truly understand what they are reading and saying to Allah — regardless of age, background, or how long they have been Muslim.
Muslims Who Recite Without Understanding If you read the Quran daily but do not know what you are saying — Tafseer transforms every Salah from recitation into genuine communication with Allah.
Parents Understanding Tafseer yourself makes you a far more effective Islamic educator for your children. You can answer their questions directly from the Quran — not from memory, from understanding.
New Muslims Tafseer builds Islamic knowledge and conviction from the primary source — the Quran itself — rather than secondary summaries or other people’s interpretations.
Students of Islamic Knowledge Tafseer is a foundational discipline in any serious Islamic education. It is the starting point for understanding Fiqh, Seerah, and Aqeedah in their proper Quranic context.
Children (Age 10+) From age 10, children have the cognitive maturity to engage with meaning, context, and application. We have age-appropriate Tafseer programs starting from the Surahs they already recite in Salah.
Why Live Tafseer — Not Books or Videos
Books of Tafseer like Ibn Katheer are valuable — but studying live with a qualified scholar is a fundamentally different experience.
- You ask questions about the verse that confuses you — and get answers calibrated to your specific understanding
- The teacher connects the ayah to your situation as a Muslim in the West
- A live teacher notices when you have misunderstood something and corrects it immediately
- Discussion helps you internalize meaning in a way that reading alone never does
Pre-recorded Tafseer videos are one-way. Live one-on-one Tafseer is a conversation — you learn what you actually need to understand.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about this course.
No. Our Tafseer classes are taught entirely in English. Your teacher explains the Arabic words and their meanings as part of every lesson. Many of our most engaged Tafseer students have never studied Arabic formally.
A translation gives you one English meaning per Arabic word — chosen by the translator. Tafseer gives you the full picture: the range of meanings in the Arabic, the occasion of revelation, the classical scholarly interpretation, and the application to life. A translation is the beginning of understanding. Tafseer is the depth.
Complete Tafseer of all 30 Juz typically takes 3–7 years at one to two classes per week. Most students begin with Juz Amma — 3–6 months — and then decide how far they want to continue. Every Surah you understand adds permanent value to your worship.
Yes, from age 10 onwards. Younger children benefit more from Quran reading and memorization — but from age 10, children can engage meaningfully with context, meaning, and application. We have age-appropriate programs starting from the Surahs they already know.
